Le Macaron Winter Park

Al and I went on a foodie adventure with Ricky Ly of Tastychomps.com. One of the places we went together was to Le Macaron. I have heard so much about this place from my fellow foodies and friends so leave it to Ricky to take us there! I like to go on these foodie adventures with Ricky because we get can share and eat at more places!

Right after eating at Prato, we walked down to Le Macaron. We bought a few items to take home. I got a variety of macarons while Ricky was picking up some Norman Love Confections for his fiance. (So sweet!) Norman Love Confections are these little beautiful confections are handmade chocolates that look like precious gems. We tried their Hot Dark Chocolate; it has a delicate and creamy texture with an intense dark chocolate flavor followed by a subtle jalapeno flavor at the end. SO YUMMO!

I bought a bunch of flavors to try:

  • Belgium Chocolate
  • Sicilian Pistachio
  • Creme Brule
  • Caramel Salted Butter
  • Black Vanilla from Madagascar
  • Lemon
  • Colombian Coffee
  • Crunchy Praline
  • Basil White Chocolate
  • Black Currant (Cassis)

I am not a fan of the Basil White Chocolate. It is good but it is not for me. There is something strange about basils in a dessert form. Anyways, these macarons are really good! These sweet meringue-based confectionery filled with buttercream between two cookies are amazingly delicious. They are delicate and melts in your mouth. I ate most of them and so far, I am not disappointed. I am curious to learn how to make them.

Before I left, I got a hot tip from a regular and she recommended trying their gelato; more in particular the Violette Gelato. I got to try a sample of their Violette Gelato which is wonderfully floral and unique. I am inspired and will be looking to replicate for future cupcakes! Next time I am around Winter Park, I will be asking Al to take me there to get a big scoop of Violette Gelato!

If you are looking for a special or decadent edible gift for someone, I would have to say hit up Le Macaron and get hooked up! Greg is really nice and he can help you find the right combination for your special someone.

I tried their macarons before ordering them for a party I’m planning for a client. I was a little skeptical of the Basil White Chocolate, but both my client and I were taken away with how good and different we thought they were. In fact we added a ton of them to our order. We also got the Black Currant, the caramel, black vanilla (to die for), and their passion fruit chocolate.

I am glad to hear they were a winner! I have much respect to Le Macaron for making such an amazing variety. It is a craft to make those consistently.
