If you live in the Lake Nona area you know that your choices for food are pretty limited. However, the area has been steadily growing and new restaurants and sports bars have recently popped up. The latest addition to your list of choices is 407 Cafe.
407 café is located in the Camdon Plaza, on the corner of Narcoossee and Dowden, just next door to Tijuana Flats. 407 Café is a casual restaurant where you walk-up-and-order and they’ll bring you your food and drinks when it’s ready. Their menu is composed of sweet and savory crepes, Paninis and gelato; Crepes and Paninis are made fresh, to order while you wait.
Their restaurant is comprised of 10-15 tables and decorated with the multitude of colors from their display of 30 different flavors of gelatos and pieces of art from Brazilian artist Romero Britto. While these provide lots of colors in contrast to the light brown walls and white counters resulting in a very clean look.
This was my first time visit 407 Café and I was a little overwhelmed with the number of choices on the menu. I ordered the Smoked Salmone Limone Panini which comes with “smoked salmon, capers, onions, slices of hardboiled egg and a smear of cream cheese with touches of olive oil, lemon jucie and cracked black pepper”, Pearleen ordered The Kings Fruit & Brie crepe.
The salmon limone was delicious. There was quite a bit of tanginess from the capers and lemon which worked really well with the flavors from the smoked salmon. The cream cheese helped balance some of the tanginess and also its creamy texture provided great contrast for the crispiness from the toasted Panini bread. I had the other half of Pearleen’s crepe and she had the other half of my Panini. The crepe was listed under savory, but it had quite a bit of sweetness to it. I have to mention though that it could have been a result of me eating the smoked salmon Panini first, leaving my taste buds a little off since there was a much larger contrast of savory to sweet. I would choose the Smoked Salmon Panini over the Kings fruit crepe, if I had to choose a favorite.
