Cranberry Buttermilk Scones by Morgan Doan of Morgan-Events.com

Morgan Doan's Homemade Scones
As I mentioned before in my previous post about my cousin Morgan Doan, she is really talented and most sought after designer and event planner in the San Francisco Bay Area!

Another recipe she shares with us are her infamous Cranberry Buttermilk Scones!

Cranberry Buttermilk Scones

Ingredients:

3 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup dry cranberries
1 tablespoon heavy cream, for brushing

Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl. Add butter and mix with your fingertips to a coarse meal. Add buttermilk and mix just until combined. Add cranberries. Transfer dough to a floured board and divide into 2 parts. Roll each to 3/4 inch thick rounds. Cut each round into 8 wedges and place slightly separated on a greased baking sheet. Brush the tops with the cream, and bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.

Morgan pairs her scones with a big bowl of Devonshire cream! She also makes that from scratch too, it is so delicious.

Just closed my eyes and imagined myself eating at least half of that beautiful platter! I throw dried cranberries on my salads, in my oatmeal — scones will be my next frontier. Thank you for sharing this recipe. :)

OMG! So my cousin is so dangerous! She made these for us and I could not stop eating them. Plus that light and fluffy devonshire cream made it even more irresistible! The holiday season is coming up and I can see us making a batch for the holiday weekends or a batch to keep for happy breakfast treats during the work week! tee hHEEE
