Breakfast at Trevi’s at the Omni Champions Gate

I don’t want to sound pretentious, but I’m not the type of person who enjoys eating at buffets. The reason being that on most occasions buffets tend to serve food that is more on the bland side since they’re trying to please a wide variety of pallets. Not only is the food usually bland, it is usually not very fresh, unless you arrive right when they open or happen to be there when they’re extremely busy. I will usually choose to eat a cooked-to-order restaurant, rather than a buffet; however this was not one of those times.

We spent a night at the Omni at Champions Gate and had an amazing evening of drinks, dinner and desert at David’s Club and Zen. The next morning we asked the person at the front desk for breakfast recommendation. She recommended we try the breakfast buffet at Trevi’s restaurant. With some reservations about going, but I wanted to be a trooper and was willing to give it a try.

It was 9 am by the time we arrive and they were half way through their time breakfast time slot that begins at 6:30 AM and goes until 11 AM. The service not once made me feel like you were at a cheap buffet; it was great from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Our server promptly took our drink orders and brought us our drinks and we were on our way to try the food.

Their selection of food is quite impressive, they have scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage,  (what else), cereal bar with milk and yogurt, breads,  pastries, Belgian waffles, fruits as well as a built-to-order omelet station.

Built to Order Omelette

I had some eggs, bacon, sausage, Belgian waffles and fruits, then went back for a second round of more fruits and yogurt. The bacon was my favorite because it was nice and crispy, followed by the Belgian waffles and sausage. I wasn’t a big fan of the scrambled eggs, but that could be because I am not a fan of scrambled eggs to begin with. I generally prefer my eggs sunny side up.

I must mention that they also offer a non-buffet menu for breakfast that isn’t very well advertised, so chances are that unless you request it your server is not going to tell you about it. We accidently discovered this when we asked if there was French toast, upon which our server told us that it wasn’t part of the breakfast buffet, but it could be ordered from the breakfast menu.

Our breakfast experience at the Omni was very good considering that it is a buffet. The food was fresh and tasty, especially the made to order omelets and Belgian waffles.
