Have you ever heard of place, but for some reason or another, every time you tried to go something would get in the way? That place for me was Graffiti Junktion, the popular burger spot located in Thorton Park on the corner of Washington and Hyer near Dexter’s. I finally made my way out there on an early Sunday afternoon for lunch.
Their located in a great corner location with lots of outdoor seating, though almost everyone there at the time were seating inside. As their name implies, their décor is graffiti and lots of it with lots of different colors on the walls that makes it hard for anyone to look around while they wait. As I looked around I noticed that most people were drinking mimosas, then later found out that on Sundays they offer complimentary mimosa or bloody marry before noon and $3 mimosas and bloody Mary’s until 3PM.
I ordered an order of the Zucchini fries and the Iron City burger (ham, egg, fries, American cheese & onions). Pearleen ordered the Green Mountain burger (Canadian bacon, fried egg & cheddar cheese). Upon asking us how we would like our burgers cooked, our server informed us how long we should expect to wait for our food based on our selection. The Zucchini fries came out shortly after our order was taken; they were thin and long slices of Zucchini, breaded, fried and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. The Zucchini fries were AWESOME!
I didn’t know what to expect from the burgers and was surprised when they arrived. These burgers were very large and filled with toppings that they were barely staying in one piece. I had to cut mine in half in order to eat it; even then I had a hard time taking a bite. The burger patty was very good and tender; the toppings were also very good, but I could have done without the fries and pickles since there were so many items between the buns. I love an egg in my burger, I think it eggs add a lot of flavor and compliments red meat so well. I was not able to finish the burger and ended up moving the bread out of the way and eating as much as I could with a fork and knife.
I went to Graffiti Junktion not knowing what to expect, other than what I was told by some of my friends. Their service and food surpassed my expectations. I enjoyed their burger, but I don’t know how often I could eat those monstrosities.
