The Crooked Spoon is one of the more recent trucks to join the Orlando Food Truck fleet and we had a chance to try some of their food during our most recent visited the Lake Lilly Food Truck Pod .
Owner and executive chef Steve Saelg and his crew have created a very unique menu by adding their own culinary creativity to popular items such as hamburgers, mac ‘n cheese, grilled cheese and the list goes on.
I chose the 420 Burger and the Vanilla Toffee Blondie. The 420 Burger is composed of Angus beef, pineapple relish, spicy candied bacon, swiss cheese, honey whole grain mustard aioli and fried onion rings all between two buns, accompanied by homemade potato chips. I didn’t know what to expect since I ordered this purely based on suggestions and I was pleasantly surprise once I took the first bite and was had a chance to taste all of the great flavors the 420 Burger has to offer. It was salty, sweet, juicy, I could certainly taste there was pineapple in there, the bacon was fantastic and the whole thing was delicious. Their potato chips were also very good. I usually don’t like potato chips because I’m not a fan of the typical “packaged” chips, these were really good.
We split the Vanilla Toffee Blondie once we finished devouring the burger and, again not what I was expecting, but by no means in a bad way. I expected toffee pieces, instead the toffee was infused into the batter resulting in a consistent texture all the way through. Their Blondie was fantastic, my complements to the chef.
With so many great looking items on the menu, it is tough to come to a conclusion based on only one of these items, but I will say that their burger and blodie are both excellent. I will certainly go back to try some of their other items, especially the always-talked-about Mac ‘N Cheese.
