Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Holly

Sweet! is located in the Waterford Lakes shopping center by UCF. The shop is definitely known for cupcakes but also has frozen yogurt. Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Holly, owner Hollis Wilder has appeared on Cupcake Wars on Food Channel. They have “daily” cupcakes, which are always there, and “chef’s choice” cupcakes, which rotate in and out. I ordered 5 different flavored “daily” cupcakes and one “chef’s choice” cupcake.

If you go on a Monday, minis are $1 each so you can get a dozen for $12 instead of $18. I thought the cupcakes were a little overpriced. I got a large cupcake and 4 minis for $10.

“Chef’s Choice” Plain Jane Cupcake

It definitely didn’t taste “plain” though. It has white cake, vanilla buttercream, and sprinkles on top. What I liked about this was the moistness of the cupcake. It definitely had more of a texture on the cake side, very rich. The icing is creamy and thick and not overly sweet, has a very good vanilla flavor. The cupcake was very large so I couldn’t eat the whole thing at once, but it would be a very nice gift for someone’s birthday because of the cute sprinkles on top. All you’d have to do is stick a candle right in the middle of it. Holding the cupcake you can also feel that it’s very dense, it definitely is more of a “cake” than a cupcake in a way.

Cookies ‘n’ Cream, High Hat, Red Velvet, Chocolate Mousse

Left to Right: Cookies ‘n’ Cream, High Hat, Red Velvet, Chocolate Mousse

Cookies ‘n’ Cream
White Cake, Vanilla Buttercream, Crushed Oreos, Cream filling.

The cupcake has white cake and vanilla buttercream like the Plain Jane, but the Oreos and cream filling gives an entirely different twist on the flavor. I’ve always liked Oreos and the combination with the icing and cream filling really did give it that signature cookies and cream taste. Again very rich so the bite size is perfect.

High Hat
Dark Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Ganache Dipped Vanilla Buttercream.

This one was too rich for me. I’m a chocolate fan but the dark chocolate cake and ganache-dipped buttercream was sugar overload. It may have also been the fact that there was a huge dollop of buttercream on top of the cupcake. The dark chocolate cake itself was really good though.

Red Velvet
Traditional Red Cake, Cream Cheese Frosting, Dark Chocolate Curls.

This one was my favorite. The red velvet was so moist, I’ve never had red velvet that was so good. The amount of icing on top was perfect and the dark chocolate curls complemented it perfectly. I would definitely consider getting this cupcake in a larger size next time.

Chocolate Mousse
Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Buttercream, Fudge Frosting Filling.

The fudge frosting filling was delicious with the chocolate cake. I like that this cupcake wasn’t entirely chocolate flavored and that it was complemented with the vanilla buttercream.

FYI: Size Comparison

Cupcake Size
I recommend getting the bite size ones to try a bunch of different flavors. Then once you figure out what you like, you can go back and get the larger sizes.

Next time your in Sweets, try the frozen yogurt, as well! The Red Velvet yogurt is the best! Although, I have heard the Tart was good, too. I love Sweets!

I do like Sweet!, especially the minis, but my favorites are the ones that don’t have buttercream involved…it is a little TOO sweet (although I can hardly complain considering the name!) for me.

Yes! Hence the name Sweet! right? I am not too crazy about buttercream either but Hollis Wilder makes some really cute designs!
