Bananas a modern American diner

I have driven past Bananas many time, but had never really noticed it. It’s located on the busy Mills road and the building doesn’t quite stand out when you’re driving past it along with the many other vehicles that are on that road.

It wasn’t until I saw a picture of their chicken  and waffles on UrbanSpoon that I noticed this place and decided to give it a try.

Here is it (not the one from UrbanSpoon, but the one I had):

Chicken & Waffles

I am a huge fan of chicken and waffles and theirs looked incredibly appetizing. I had to go!

Upon checking their site I learned that they are opened 7am to 12am on weekdays and 24hours on Friday and Saturday. Awesome!

My mom was in town and Pearleen and I decided to take her out for breakfast on Sunday morning. I ordered the chicken and waffles (off course) and was told by my server that it would take 20-30 minutes to prepare it. I was OK with that because I have was already set on getting my chicken and waffles and no time barrier is going to deter me from getting what I want!

Pearleen ordered the “AM Cristo” which was an egg and cheese combo with a choice of bacon, sausage or ham sandwich, served in between two slices of French toast. My mom ordered their “Mushroom Omelette,” she loves mushrooms!

AM Cristo

Our food arrived in about 20 minutes. The wait was well worth it. The chicken and waffles were freshly made. Crispy and well seasoned chicken, fluffy waffles and delicious gravy. By far, my favorite of the three dishes.

Second favorite was the omelet. Nice and light, with lots of mushroom and cheese. Very good. Third was the AM Cristo. It was a good sandwich, but it was lacking on the meat, in my opinion. Aside from that, the AM Cristo was enjoyable. Pearleen ended up dropping one slice of french toast and cutting the other piece in half to make it a taller more meatier half sandwich.

Bananas serves some pretty tasty breakfast dishes in a very casual atmosphere. I would recommend this place.
