Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza is categorized as a Belgian Strong Ale, but in reality it feels more like a sour or wild ale. This ale is bottle fermented with wild yeast, resulting in an extremely unstable substance.
This bottle was a gusher, even after refrigerating it for a little over two days it did not stop foaming until a significant amount of the bottle was poured out, into the glass off course.
Oro de Calabaza is a spicy and slightly hoppy ale that is aged in oak barrels and then re-fermented in the bottle. Overall this is an amazing ale. It is a good choice for someone who’s never tried a “sour” beer.
