Big Wheel Provisions Food Truck

The weather was perfect and we were on our way to the event. We were really excited about attending the DailyCity.com Orlando Food Truck Bazaar so we arrived there early….. well I guess we were not early enough!

This attracted so many people and it was a huge turn out all before 7:00PM! We were most interested in trying Big Wheel Provisions Truck, Yum Yum Truck, and Vegan Hot Dog Cart. Unfortunately, we were only able to try Big Wheel Provisions :(

Here is what we got at Big Wheel Provisions Truck:

Grilled Spicy Octopus with Chickpea Salad & Local Tomatos
This was a great salad! Love the chickpeas in a light vinaigrette dressing. I typically do not use chickpeas in my cooking but now after having this salad, I am so going to start! It is so simple but yet so full of flavor! The grilled octopus was tender and went really well with the salad. This is a great fresh and light salad that I would get again!

Made to order: Local Pork Chicharróns with Winter Park Bleu Crema
I am so in love with Chicharróns! I had so many of those bad boys in Brazil and was looking forward to some really fresh ones again. They looked so amazing but it was not what I was expecting. These Chicharrón were just the pork rinds. I thought maybe they would be the pork belly and not just the skin. It was heavily seasoned with some spices which reminds me of Shichimi Togarashi, a Japanese 7 spice powder and a mix with Cajun. Some of the pork rinds were fried all the way through and there were some that didn’t which left it very chewy and tough. Needless to say, I have had better and probably won’t get this again.

Crispy Tater Tots with Foie Gras Parfait & Blueberry Preserves
This was a really interesting mix of sauces. The Foie Gras reminded me of a preserved tofu or fermented bean curd used in East Asian cuisine. It was really tasty and have not thought about pairing it with crispy tater tots. The Foie Gras has fragrant aroma and a fluffly texture that sticks like whipped cream cream and when pairing it with blueberry preserves onto your tots… you get a very confusing mixture of taste and texture happening in your mouth…it’s quite an experience! This would definitely appease my next tater tot cravings!

After getting our food at Big Wheel Provisions I was not ready to go stand in another line….

So we left after devouring our food. I left because of the lines not because of the trucks. I really do want to try out all those trucks but then I thought, I could just visit these trucks at my own time when the lines are not so insane. I felt like I was standing in line at the theme parks waiting to get on a ride.  But on the flip side, Orlando totally needed an event like this… to bring all these food fans out and supporting our local businesses to thrive! DailyCity.com did a fantastic job getting everyone together as a community to enjoy our local truck eateries!
