Pao Gostoso

What Americans are missing out on…

We, as Americans, are missing out on life if you are one of those who haven’t tried out this local Brazilian Bakery, Pao Gostoso (Pomh Ghost-Toe-Zoo) Bakery off of International Drive.  There seems to be  a stigma on Brazilians that they eat nothing but grilled meats on huge skewers with some of the most colorful and freshest sides of vegetables. But here is the thing, they don’t eat like that all the time…ok, maybe once a week, but the fact of the matter is that they are not only master-grillers but they are also awesome pastry chefs.

Inside Pao Gostoso

Dessert lovers, meat eaters, and CARB-ivores alike can all come together and find something to soothe their appetite and their cravings. The bakery is almost like a Panera but instead of hearing the sound of classical music you either hear the sound of a Brazilian announcer narrating a soccer match or Brazilian soap-opera all coming from the TV that hangs from the corner of the store.

They have sandwiches, they have cakes, they have overly stuffed empanadas, they have extremely delicious and freshly baked bread with ham, and they are all very authentic.

Everything is all very MEGA YUMMO and words cannot describe how awesome and delicious it is at Pao Gostoso.

Once I order a “X-Tudo,” (Shees-Too-Do) which means a cheese burger with everything. Everything meaning, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomatos, onions, corn, bacon, eggs, potato chips… and not to forget, the burger patty too, which is all wedged inside their freshly baked hamburger buns. I was just astounded by how they could fit all those toppings inside my burger.

–Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of that monstrosity, but I guess it is not really unfortunate if I get to go back for another. ;o)
