With this economy going the way it has been going, everyone has been looking for a good deal everywhere. At least I know I have, especially on sushi.
I love to eat sushi and I could eat it everyday.
Recently, I have tried a place off of Colonial called, Bikkuri Sushi. They use to be a really small “hole-in-the-wall” place. But don’t get confused with their split floor plan and operation. The downstairs portion is strictly for their take-out while the upstairs is for dinning in.
They did a great job with their décor presenting the cool, clean feeling. Their menu was my kind of menu, mostly all pictures! -Which just makes my job so much easier!
We ordered a couple of rolls of which were listed for a very, VERY reasonable price. But don’t expect anything too fancy though; there will not be much of a presentation for all your sushi rolls. -Which is totally fine by me! My $6.00 roll taste the same to a $12.00 roll and that makes it MEGA YUMMO in my book!
Something interesting though, we have always wanted to try Soba Noodles and Bikkuri Sushi offers a dish that serves Soba Noodles.
What are Soba Noodles?
I wondered the same thing and this is what I found out. Soba noodles are also known as Buckwheat noodles and it is very popular in Japan in both winter and summer seasons either served hot or cold. Bikkuri serves theirs chilled in a flat basket of ice with a side of their warm dipping broth. -pretty interesting… I will have to say that the next time I order that, I will ask them to hold the ice.
How would I rate it?
Well, seeing as how they were backed up on their sushi, it took us awhile to receive our order. It was not that service was bad or anything, just that they have 1 person preparing sushi for the entire restaurant. Which makes me wonder, how busy are the chefs downstairs? Bikkuri Sushi is very tasty for a really great price. It is Mega Yummo Sushi for the best value.
