Uncle Jones Bar-B-Que “Nothin-Mo-Betta”. . . Serving phenomenal Fried Chicken, Fried Okra, and super moist corn bread.
Seriously! Nothing is more better!

I have never really had soul food…so asking my resident soul-food correspondent, Marc Douglas, he recommended a few places and one of them was Uncle Jones BBQ. I am grateful for the recommendation.

Though I was a bit nervous . . . BUT what was there to be nervous about? This restaurant defines “hole-in-the-wall” where their style of cooking is HOME STYLE! The service is great and the people are very friendly and welcoming. They have a charming touch on the front of their menu underneath their smiling pig…

I wonder how many people actually notices the note at the bottom … let alone actually asked Uncle Jones to cater for their recent divorce. :)

Their menu had all the basic bbq combos you could ask for… but then since I could not decide I went with the dinner buffet at $11.95.  It is a great value to get the chance to sample everything on the menu! They have it every night and actually, every night is a bit different. Some nights would be featuring meat loaf, fried fish, fried chicken, or bbq ribs.

I was lucky, it was FRIED CHICKEN NIGHT! They had so many dishes and there was just not enough room in my stomach to have it all.

ROUND 1:

Fried Chicken, BBQ Ribs & Fried Okra

Fried Chicken, BBQ Ribs & Fried Okra

They must have a secret fried chicken batter because their fried chicken was so crispy and the seasoning on the chicken was absolutely MEGA YUMMO. I got there right on time and everything was just coming out from the kitchen. It was my first time having fried okra and I would have to say that I honestly really like it. The ribs was moist and tender and matched really well with the fried okra.

ROUND 2:

BBQ Pork, Mac n' Cheese with Steamed Cabbage

BBQ Pork, Mac n' Cheese with Steamed Cabbage

The pork was very bland but that was nothing a little hot sauce couldn’t handle. Nothin Mo Betta than the taste of home made macroni and cheese, soft, creamy, and ful of flavor. I think I could have been content with eating just eating that! The cabbage was cooked just right and not a bit over cooked. I felt like I went to a friend’s house for dinner!

Round 3:

Cornbread!

Cornbread!

This one is easy... AWESOME! moist and soft, everything you could imagine from a good cornbread.

All together all the food was delicious and the service was great at a great value. Everyone is super friendly and definitely family oriented. This is a place to go if you are missing your dose of home style cooking! They also provide take and have a drive thru window at their restaurant.

Mega YUMMO-O-O-O-O!

As the “soul food correspondent,” I have to agree with the rating for Uncle Jones. The food is always good and everyone on staff is friendly. The dining area was renovated a couple of years ago, and this improved the atmosphere. Uncle Jones should be on your list of favorites.

Drove by the other day for lunch and it was closed. Peaked in the window and totally empty off tables, chairs and buffet server. Does anyone know why it closed down
